The icon reborn: Honda Ph unleashes all-new 10th generation Civic

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), the official local distributor of Honda vehicles, has finally launched the all-new 10th generation Civic. This sedan exudes an aggressive, sporty styling and features an array of cool new things inside, most specially under the hood.

Honda penned the car’s exterior using their “Revolutionary Silhouette Advanced Neo Sedan” design concept. This is characterized by a coupe-like profile that’s detailed by styling cues like sharp character lines, swept-back body lines, and a low and wide stance.

Its sporty persona is further defined by a sleek-looking grille and a set of LED headlights with daytime running lights (DRL) that sweep up and out the front fascia. Then there’s the huge air intakes with round fog lamps on the bumper that completes the look. The back end likewise reflects the athletic theme with quarter panel-hugging C-shaped LED tail lights and a shaped bumper with vent accents.

The all-new Civic is offered in 2 variants: the 1.8 E and the range-topping 1.5 RS Turbo. While the former gets the styling treatments mentioned above, the latter with its Road Sailing (RS) body kit flaunts glossy black grille, LED fog lamps, chromed door handles, trunk spoiler, and the red RS badge, of course. It also rolls on unique 17-in RS Design alloy wheels.

But here’s the exciting part; powering the RS is a turbocharged 1.5L DOHC 4-cylinder VTEC engine that unleashes 173 hp and 215 Nm of torque. It then moves the car using an Earth Dreams Technology CVT. The CVT is also present on the E variant’s tried and tested 1.8L SOHC VTEC power plant.

With the brand’s smart interior packaging strategies, the all-new Civic offers more legroom for the front passengers thanks to its high deck console. Compared to its predecessor, the digital display found atop driver’s information stack is now gone, giving the driver a fuller view of the road ahead. Moreover, the trunk capacity of 428L can be further maximized by folding the rear seats 60:40.

The vehicle’s information and entertainment system can be seen and controlled via the 7-inch touch screen LCD with USB/HDMI support and Bluetooth/iPod/iPhone connectivity. Additional features for the RS include leather seats and a navigation system. The driver can also start the engine and cool the cabin down from the outside using the Civic’s new smart remote key.

For safety, the 10th generation Civic offers dual front airbags, electronic parking with Auto Brake Hold (ABH), reversing camera, ISOFIX child seat anchor, Vehicle Stability Control (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and ABS with EBD. The RS levels it up with side and side curtain airbags.

The all-new Honda Civic is priced at P1,088,000 for the 1.8 E and P1,398,000 for the 1.5 RS Turbo.

Available colors include Cosmic Blue Metallic, Midnight Burgundy Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, White Orchid Pearl, Rallye Red (RS Turbo only), and Modern Steel Metallic (1.8 E only). Honda Cars Philippines is now accepting reservations and delivery should begin by June 2016.
