Kia Sorento 4x2

The Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), the official distributor of Kia cars in the Philippines, introduced a new 4x2 Sorento variant. This will be added to the variant range of the midsize SUV that’s solely populated by an all-wheel drive (AWD) option.

The good news is, the new variant has a price tag of P1,895,000, which is P405,000 less than the AWD model. It also comes with a 5-year (or 160,000 km, whichever comes first) warranty.

As mentioned, their main difference is the drivetrain; power is transferred to the front wheels in the 4x2 option. This gives flexibility to the buyers of midsize SUVs, especially those who don’t really have the need for the 4x4 functionality.

Aside from the drivetrain difference, there’s just a little trade-off with between the 2 variants when it comes to exterior and interior features. The new 4x2 variant doesn’t have panoramic sunroof and roof rails, while riding on a smaller set of 17-inch alloy rims.

On the other hand, the 7 seats are now covered with fabric and the tailgate are manually controlled. The steering wheel also loses its wood-grain accents, while immobilizer, push start/stop button, and Bluetooth handsfree function aren’t present on the spec sheet of the Sorento 4x2.

Under the hood, both Sorento variants are still powered by a 4-cylinder 2.2L CRDi diesel engine that produces 200 hp and 441 Nm of torque. These figures are then transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic feature (manual mode).
