Mazda CX-5

Mazda has revealed the all-new 2017 CX-5 at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. It features a sharper and more aggressive exterior, as well as an updated interior layout.

As previously reported, the all-new CX-5 is based on the latest version of the CX-9. Comparing it to its predecessor, Mazda’s compact crossover gets a wider grille with more prominent chrome trim, a longer hood, and new sweptback headlights. The rear, on the other hand, gets narrower taillights, a revamped liftgate, and a redesigned bumper.

The CX-5 wears Mazda’s newly developed body color dubbed as the Soul Red Crystal. The Japanese brand added that the new exterior color features a “highly saturated red pigment” which aims to highlight the vehicle’s KODO: Soul of Motion design.

Inside, the CX-5 has a new dashboard layout featuring more angular air vents and a new steering wheel design. Moreover, the interior comes with piano black trims and chrome accents. The 2017 CX-5 is also equipped with Mazda’s G-Vectoring tech, which is said to improve the vehicle’s driving dynamics and help reduce the need for steering corrections.

The 2017 CX-5 is powered either by a 2.0L or a 2.5L gasoline engine. On the other hand, other markets will get the 2.2L SkyActiv-D diesel engine. However, Mazda did not mentioned if there’s something new of what lies under the hood. Considering this, the CX-5 could be equipped with carry over engines.

Mazda said that the all-new CX-5 would go on sale in February 2017 in Japan with launches in global markets to follow. Mazda Philippines has yet to confirm as to when will they launch the all-new CX-5 here.
