Land Transportation Office Color-Coded ID

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently revealed the new color-coded identification cards (ID) to show the jurisdiction of each traffic enforcer. This new system aims to help motorists identify legitimate deputized personnel on the road.

In a report by ABS-CBN, there will be 4 color-coded cards that will be given to authorized traffic enforcers to implement specific road violations – Blue, Green, Orange, and White.

The Blue cards will be for the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officers, which will give them the authority to apprehend franchise violators. On the other hand, the Green IDs will be handed out to personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to apprehend smoke-belchers.

Meanwhile, the Orange IDs will be given to authorized officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to pull over drivers of overloaded vehicles. Lastly, the LTO officials with the White IDs will have the right to apprehend drivers for all traffic violations.

According to LTO, they can track traffic enforcers who hand out tickets out of their jurisdiction through their system. LTO also assured the public that they can track personnels who have fake IDs through the card’s security features. However, the said security features integrated to the ID cards were not detailed by the LTO. In addition, motorists can call out “pretend cops” or traffic officials who are out of their jurisdiction.

As of this writing, LTO has yet to release a comprehensive guide of its features to help the public spot forged cards.
