Hyundai Philippines debuts its contender for the subcompact crossover segment at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Say hello to the Creta, a vehicle that’s set to go up against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke, and Mazda CX-3.
The look of Hyundai’s subcompact crossover shares similarities with the Tucson. Well, this might not be a surprise because the Creta features the brand’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.
It is fitted with a hexagonal grille, sweptback headlights, and a large bumper. In profile, you can see its sharp character line and sloping roofline. The rear of the Tucso… err, Creta comes with wraparound taillights, a skid plate, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
For safety, it is equipped with dual front airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD).
The Creta is powered by either a 1.6L gasoline or diesel engine. The gasoline power unit puts out 123 hp and 150 Nm of torque while the diesel delivers 128 hp and 260 Nm. The engines are paired to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Of note, the local spec Creta are exported from Hyundai India’s plant in Chennai. It is available with the following price tags: P918,000 (Creta MT), P988,000 (GL AT), and P1,038,000 (GL MT Diesel).
