Offering the versatility of a pick up, comfort of a passenger car, and amenities of an SUV, this is the 5th generation all-new Strada which now available in the country thanks to Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC).

This so-called “sport utility truck” evokes evokes a more muscular stance than its predecessor and provides a more modern feel thanks to its LED daytime running lights and HID headlamps. The body also has better aerodynamics which should help improve fuel efficiency and lessen cabin noise. Meanwhile, its utilitarian qualities has been further improved by making the bed bigger and deeper to accommodate more equipment. 

But what makes the Strada, like its previous model, stand out amongst other pickups is its cab’s “J-line” design. Mitsubishi engineered this feature to allow a bigger cabin space for passengers while shortening the wheelbase. This results to a more agile truck that has a class-leading 5.9 meter turning radius.

Inside, the all-new Strada has a simple yet smart design that gives it a car-like creature comforts. The cabin is now wider and longer to provide more passenger room, while seats have been improved to provide better side and leg support for those long journeys. The top-of-the-line variant is packed with features such an engine start/stop button, high contrast instrumentation with multi-information display, magnesium paddle shifters, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, touchscreen multimedia system with Android and iOS connectivity, automatic rain-sensing wipers, tire pressure monitoring system, and a reverse camera display. There are also USB charging ports plus two 12V power sockets to keep all those devices going.

To keep passengers safe, all variants come with standard dual airbags, ABS + EBD, and a RISE body architecture ensuring better rigidity and strength. 

At the heart of each Strada is the proven reliable 2.5L in-line 4 16-valve DOHC CRDi engine that puts out 178 hp and 400 Nm for the VGT equipped models. Meanwhile, base variants puts out a promising 136 hp and 324 Nm. These engines are available with either a 5-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual.

As for the the GLS Sport V AT, it’s the first Strada in the Philippine market to be equipped with an electronic dial Super Select 4WD-II system that’s similar to the Pajero. Other 4WD variants, on the other hand, come with the proven Easy Select 4WD system.

MMPC has actually sold more than 56,000 units since the model was introduced more than 2 decades ago.
