Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has started producing the Mirage G4—one of the most popular cars in AutoDeal for 2016—at their local assembly plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This is also the first Mitsubishi model to be locally produced under the CARS program.
To recall, MMPC joined the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program, with the aim to enhance productivity, locally manufacture more vehicles, and provide more job opportunities. The other brand included in this program is Toyota.
With this, the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 will join the Adventure and the L300 – both currently manufactured at the mentioned assembly plant in Laguna.
The Sta. Rosa assembly plant is a 21.4-hectare facility that can produce a maximum of 50,000 units annually and employs 1,400 employees (as of December 2016). However, with the P4.3-billion investment in the CARS program, expansion of this plant isn’t too far-fetched, which spells good news for local employment.
Of note, the facelifted Mirage hatchback model will start production at the same plant by May 2017.
