MMDA to have more payment sites for violators

Gone are the days where you have to rush to the bank so you can pay for your traffic violation. Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) brings convenience to violators as they will be having more payment sites starting June 20, 2016.

MMDA Chairman Emerson Carlos, Dennis Yaw of SM Bills Payment, and Manual Tuazon, president and Chief Executive Officer of Bayad Centers have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA), allowing traffic violators to settle their fines at Bayad Centers and select SM payment kiosks. The new payment sites are available on weekends and during mall hours.

Currently, violators can only pay via Metrobank and the MMDA payment center located in Makati, which are open only during weekdays.

“We are making available all the facilities near them (violators) to settle the fines immediately and avoid being on the alarm list of government agencies when they are applying for a clearance or renewing their vehicle registration,” Carlos said.

Failure to pay for the fine will result to non-renewal of the driver licenses or vehicle registration via the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
