A new segment of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAX) was partially opened today, December 21, 2016. The new “Christmas lane” is said to cut travel time by 40%.
In a report by Rappler, the Christmas lane will allow motorists from Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City to use 1 of the 4 lanes on the elevated highway to reach NAIA Terminal 3 and Skyway.
For the first 2 years of its operation, toll fees will be rated at P45 (Class 1), P90 (Class 2), and P134 (Class 3). Adjustments to toll fees will be implemented every 2 years according to the project’s concession agreement.
As a review, the NAIAX is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program that features a 12.65 km elevated highway. When completed, the project will provide better access to NAIA Terminals 1,2, and 3 from PAGCOR’s Entertainment City, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Villamor Airbase, Skyway, and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). NAIAX is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2017.
