Nissan announced the top 6 Filipino virtual racers of the GT Academy Philippines season 2. These individuals will compete in the Nissan GT Academy finals in Silverstone, U.K.
The top 6 finalists who made the cut consist of Jan Millard Lacuna, Elysse T. Menorca, Richard Dean D. Jose, Mervin John Mallen, Kim Jiger A. Chong, and Francisco F. Adriano IV. Of note, Menorca is the first female participant that made the final 6 of GT Academy Philippines.
For this year, the Nissan GT Academy Philippines National Finals featured a 4-part skills test that are spread into 2 days. From 20 participants, Nissan chose and determined the top 6 virtual racers through a number of physical and driving challenges. The participants have also undergone a panel interview as part of the communication and personality challenge.
The top 6 will compete against other finalists from Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, North Africa, and Thailand at the Race Camp Week to be held in Silverstone. The overall champion will undergo Nissan’s driver development program and receive full training to become an international racecar driver.
