Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) closed out its 1st half (H1) of 2017 with 41% sales growth over the H1 of 2016. According to NPI, the positive result was driven by the growth in sales of its core models, its dealer network expansion, and after-sales program.

“In July, we posted a new record for the brand, hitting 2,202 units sold. We hope to continue on this momentum, to truly strengthen our position in the Philippine automotive scene. We have a lot of plans in store for our customers, this second half of 2017, so I hope that the market is ready for an exciting year.”

On the physical sales aspect, the NV350 Urvan remains to be NPI's best-selling model, as well as the Navara pickup truck. Both the van and the pickup truck accounted for 31% each of the whole H1 2017 sales, with 7% of the Urvan's performance being contributed by the Urvan Premium introduced in April 2017.

Supporting the figures for the Navara sales is AutoDeal's Insight Report, where the pickup truck was named as the best-selling pickup truck under the Sales Trends for H1 2017 data. Meanwhile, the Almera and Juke accounted 24% and 12% of NPI sales, respectively.

Another factor that fuelled the sales increase, according to NPI, is the nationwide dealer expansion. Within the first 6 months of the year, NPI has already opened 5 new dealerships in various regions, such as Marilao, Iloilo, Cebu South and Central, and in Baliwag. These allowed Nissan to expand its reach across 32 locations nationwide.

Lastly, NPI claims that the Nissan Express Service and Nissan Part Online after-sales services played an impact on its H1 sales figures. Under the Express Service, customers undergo a 30-minute PMS (Periodic Maintenance Service), while the Nissan Part Online allows them to buy legitimate merchandise and parts in the comfort of their home.
