Nissan GT-R Nismo

If you’ve been following the line of GT-Rs, you’ll notice that the new GT-R Nismo got updates that are similar to its less powerful brother. But since it’s a Nismo, there is something more than what you see on the outside.

It sports the same powerful 600 hp 3.8L V6 engine from its predecessor. However, the new 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo has an updated front fascia, reinforced hood and body, increased performance, and refreshed interior.

Just like the rest of the Nissan’s current lineup, the refreshed GT-R comes with V-motion grille. This feature allows more air intake to help cool the high output engine under the hood without compromising the car’s aerodynamic performance. The front splitter has also been updated to improve airflow around the car to generate more downforce, while directing air around the wheelhouse for aerodynamics.

The hood is also reinforced to avoid deformation at extremely high speeds. Its front bumpers are also made out of layers of carbon fiber, with some of its parts are visible on the front fascia.

Nissan boldly announced that the 2017 GT-R Nismo has the most downforce generated than any other Nissan production car to date.

Inside, the 2017 GT-R Nismo will be more upscale with its redesigned dashboard, steering wheel, and armrest all covered with Alcantara leather. The layout, integrated navigation, and audio controls have been improved and simplified, going down from 27 switches of the outgoing model to just 11.

Its head unit has also been enlarged to an 8-inch touchscreen, with a new display command control on the carbon fiber center console that allows easy operation with a twist on the knob. Lastly, the new GT-R Nismo has leather-appointed Recaro carbon bucket seats with red Alcantara inserts.

As for performance, the incoming GT-R Nismo’s body has been reinforced. This allowed Nissan’s engineers to refine its shock absorbers, springs, and stabilizers. The GT-R’s special Bilstein Damptronic driver-adjustable system features a NISMO-tuned shock absorber that effectively transfers the power of the engine to the ground.

As mentioned, the 3.8L V6 engine stays the same and can still produce 600 hp and 652 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The rear end didn’t get any updates as well but looking at it, there’s nothing more you could really ask for.

There’s still no news as to when and if this new GT-R Nismo will reach our shores but it’s confirmed that the standard GT-R will. If that happens, it’s going to be exciting for all Nissan GT-R fans here in the country.
