Quezon City to close parts of Quezon Ave. and Elliptical Road for 21 days

Beginning Friday night, October 16, 2015, expect heavy traffic in some parts of Quezon City. This is because they’re closing a portion of Quezon Avenue and Elliptical Road for a flood control project that will last 21 days.

It involves closing a stretch of Quezon Ave. and the adjacent u-turn slot along Elliptical Road. This is to give way for the installation of a 300 meter pipeline that stretches from Kayalaan Ave. to Quezon Ave. as well as repositioning of PLDT’s underground cables.

To avoid the affected area, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has issued a rerouting scheme so road users can still head to their destinations.

Vehicles from East Ave., Kalayaan Ave., Commonwealth Ave., and Visayas Ave going to Quezon Ave. may turn to North Ave. From there, they turn left to Agham Road and proceed to Quezon Ave.

Meanwhile, vehicles from North Ave. going to Quezon Memorial Circle may turn right at Agham Road and left to Quezon Ave. to destination. They could also drive straight past BIR Road and turn left at East Ave. to destination.

Quezon City’s local government assured that this project will be finished before November 18 or 19, 2015, which are Special Non-Working Holidays in the National Capital Region (NCR). This is in anticipation of the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit.
