The final unboxing of the Kia Seltos is fast approaching, and this subcompact crossover looks like it could be a worthy contender in the segment. Kia Philippines is giving customers more incentive to reserve a Seltos, from now until its launch on November 6, 2019.
Kia Philippines has already announced its pricing for the upcoming Seltos, but customers who take this opportunity will be able to slash P50,000 off the price of all variants of the Seltos. According to a source inside Kia Philippines, those who reserve the crossover any day before the launch date will be entitled to the discount outright. The reservation process is simple: go to any authorized Kia dealership, express interest in the soon-to-be-released model, and pay the reservation fee of P5,000.
The price for the Seltos after the discount is as follows:
- LX – P1,048,000
- EX – P1,148,000
- SX – P1,448,000
The Kia Seltos in other countries can be equipped with one of three engine options, two of which are gasoline and one is diesel. The gasoline options include a 2.0L naturally aspirated mill, and a 1.6L turbocharged motor. The turbo motor is likely the same engine that comes in the Kia Forte GT, while the 2.0L is the same as the Hyundai Kona. The 2.0L in the Kona is capable of 147 hp and 179 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged 1.6L engine is capable of 204 hp and 264 Nm of torque.
It seems like the LX and EX variants might come with the 2.0L engine, while the SX variant may come with a turbo-diesel or turbocharged gasoline engine, though we’re just speculating at this point. It’s not too far fetched to assume that the diesel engine could be the 1.6L CRDi engine as found in the Hyundai Accent. Another speculation if ever a diesel engine will be introduced is a 1.5L diesel engine, similar to the one found in the Indian market.
You can expect the same level of refinement that other Kia models have in the lineup, along with the up-to-date technology features such as the head unit capable of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also expect the Seltos to turn a few heads thanks to its rather handsome exterior design.
