Sheldon Chua Wins 2nd leg of 2015 NDRC Southern Series

Last March 7, the 2nd leg of the 2015 National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) Southern Series went full speed, with Sheldon Chua emerging the quickest, ahead the usual top-runners. On-board his “Tiunami 3” Honda CRX, Chua maintained team JCT-Blanche’s domination, as Jonathan Tiu’s Nissan GT-R continued to experience mechanical problems throughout the day.

Things went boiling hot in the Quick 8s’ first heat. RSL Motorsports’ Manalo brothers went head-to-head with each other. But Joseph Manalo’s No.76 RSL Motorsports Civic suffered a nasty engine failure upon passing his brother Martin. Martin then fought hard until the final heat, only to be out-dragged by Chua. Meanwhile, because of continued mechanical troubles, Jonathan Tiu had no choice but to withdraw the final heat.

In the Pro class, TEMZ Automart’s Arvin Millet was able to pull ahead of Martin Manalo, but both racers broke out of their dial-in times, resulting to a deadlock. In the end, it was Millet who managed to break the tie with a quicker reaction. Millet took home with a Pro class win, followed by Manalo, and Jonathan Tiu, who still made it to 3rd amid so many mechanical problems.

Chris Jayson Millet and Arvin Millet then went on to dominate the expert class. They took first and second places respectively, with Chris clocking in at 12.952 seconds. 3rd place went to Haimer Bora. Meanwhile, the top 3 finishers for the Sportsman class were Victors Pe Benito (1st), Darren Ramirez (2nd), and Roy Vibar (3rd).

Finally in the Hot Street class, first place went to Cer Olliriz Alcala. Not far behind in 2nd was Eduardo Dela Roca, and claiming 3rd was Malvin Alcantara.

A total of 107 racers took part in each of NDRC's 5 official classes, which proves that the sport continuously attracts new and aspiring racers especially in the entry-level Sportsman and Hot Street classes. With that amount of positive response, all will be in great anticipation, as the NDRC heads back to Clark International Speedway for the 3rd leg of the Northern Series on March 28, 2015.

The 2015 National Drag Racing Championship is sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by M&H Tires, Sparco, GT Radial, and Aguila Auto Glass.
