Subaru of America has revealed the 2017 BRZ Series Yellow featuring performance upgrades and styling tweaks.
From the outside, the Japanese sports coupe looks bright with its Brilliant Yellow paintwork (hence the name). This is then contrasted with blacked-out 17-in alloy wheels, fender garnishes, BRZ and Subaru badges, and side mirrors. These details give the car an aggressive look.
The interior, on the other hand, invites occupants with black leather and Alcantara upholstery. These are accented by bright yellow details like seat shoulder support and door handles. The stitching on the seats, steering wheel, dash, gear shift boot, knee pads, and carpet floor mats are likewise colored in yellow. And to complete the theme, designers also placed yellow BRZ logos on the seat backrests.
Standard on the Series Yellow is a 4.2-in multifunction display which can be seen on the right of the tachometer. There’s also a 6.2-inch touch screen infotainment system with Starlink Multimedia. What’s good about the Starlink is that it can give the driver more options for entertainment via apps like Pandora and iHeart radio. Drivers can also use Starlink to go online and check on the latest news, utilize GPS navigation, and read email messages on the go.
But these aren’t the only additions to the Series Yellow. Engineers have also improved its suspension with a set of SACHS performance shocks for better handling. Tweaks to the chassis were also made to increase rigidity such as reinforcing the strut tower braces, transmission cross-member plates, and rear wheel housings.
On top of that, the Stability Control System was also updated for a more agile driving feel. And to balance the improved driving dynamics, engineers fitted the Series Yellow with a Brembo braking system which consists of front 4-piston calipers/rotors and rear 2-piston calipers/rotors.
These performance upgrades complement the car’s 2.0L 4-cylinder Boxer engine which generates 205 hp and 211 Nm of torque. Drivers will be able to utilize the engine’s full potential via 6-speed manual transmission.
Only 500 units of the Series Yellow will be produced by Subaru for the US market and deliveries will begin in 2017.
