Suzuki Philippines Gawag Kalinga

Suzuki Philippines (SPH) handed out soccer balls and other items to Gawad Kalinga’s (GK) sports program dubbed ‘SipaG.’

SPH, with the help of GK representatives, provided more than 900 items such as soccer balls, gym bags, T-shirts, and rally towels. 30 kids aged 12 years old and below were given football items that can be used for trainings to further develop their potential.

During the turnover ceremony, there were set of exciting games for the kids, in which Suzuki executives also actively participated, creating a friendly yet competitive atmosphere among the whole SipaG club. Winners were given school supplies such as intermediate pads, pen, and pencils for the children’s school needs.

Last June, SipaG football club represented the Philippines in a tournament in France. They competed against other football players aged 12 from teams representing 14 countries. SipaG is the first Filipino team to attend the Hazebrouck Youth International Cup in France and the first and only team from Asia to play in Dirinon. Moreover, SipaG is the first Filipino team to play in Futbol Salou in Spain.

“We thank everyone for making this partnership with Suzuki Philippines possible. This is only the start. Gawad Kalinga is really here to care for the dreams of the little ones—not only to inspire the children to dream but also to work with them to achieve that dream.”

The football division of SipaG program has more than 14 football clubs nationwide such as in Mandaluyong, Smokey Mountain, Manila, Leyte, Davao, among others. SPH’s donated sports items will also be distributed to both existing and new football teams in far-flung areas such as Tawi-Tawi, Siargao, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Butuan, and Marawi, where “play therapy” will be conducted among the kids affected by the war.
