Take a look at the new 2017 Subaru Impreza

Subaru of America Inc. recently launched the 2017 version of their popular Impreza model. It comes in both sedan and 5-door hatchback forms and ushers the brand’s new Global Platform which steps the performance, handling, and safety up a few notches.

The latest Impreza boasts Subaru’s new exterior design language. Heading its front fascia are the brand’s signature hawk-eye headlights that are now longer and narrower. These add to the overall more aggressive face that’s finished off by the hexagonal grille.

The same upbeat aura is evident on the car’s side. It’s got new look wheels and stronger character lines that detail the car’s shape. Moreover, the low stance and the smooth roofline do emphasize the car’s curvy silhouette. On the other hand, the new LED tail lights dominate the back and replicate the edgy design found up front.

Subaru’s new Global Platform keeps its structure intact. To simplify, it’s the brand’s new take on chassis design. It harnesses the driving balance and safety provided by the boxer engine and the Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system to improve straight line stability, noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) reduction, and comfort. The 2017 Impreza is the first Subaru to be fitted with this new frame.

For the US market, Subaru offers the car in 4 trims; Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. While all come with new infotainment systems that support Android and iOS devices, higher trims offer gizmos such as STARLINK Safety and Security, STARLINK Multimedia with Harman/Kardon audio, and the Subaru EyeSight advanced safety suite.

Lastly, the latest Impreza’s 2.0L 4-cylinder boxer engine gets a boost in power from 148 hp to 152 hp. This is because of a new fuel injection system. This power plant is connected to the Lineartronic CVT with 7-speed manual mode. The Sport variant even comes with Active Torque Vectoring to allow for added driving excitement.

Yes, the 2017 Subaru Impreza is finally out. But the question still remains as to when Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. (MIPI) will decide to introduce it to the local market. It would be an awesome sight on the road if that happens. In the meantime, they’re still selling the current Impreza model.
