Toyota Crown Concept

Toyota seems to be pumping up for this year's Tokyo Motor Show by introducing the Crown concept. The car will be showcased at the show as a concept car on a platform based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA).

With 14 generations under its nameplate, the Crown full-size luxury sedan served 62 years in Japan and other select Asian countries. You may browse the gallery below for a Toyota Crown flashback.

The Crown concept is equipped with Data Communication Modules (DCM). The DCM enables the car to communicate and share information to its surrounding, such as traffic lights and other vehicles through Toyota’s “Big Data Center.” Alongside this, the car will also feature the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Connect service.

With the combination of these features, accidents can be reduced and motorists will be more aware in regard to the traffic condition. It would also let Toyota diagnose the vehicle remotely for convenient maintenance.

For guaranteed performance, the concept car has been tested in Nurburgring, Germany. Advancements on driving stability were made to adapt on certain areas which requires different speeds. This responsive handling performance also respond on varying road surfaces, be it rough or smooth.

However, Toyota has yet to release the Crown concept’s power output rating. The production model of the Crown is expected to be released around the first quarter of 2018.
