toyota ft-ac

Toyota’s retro-inspired FJ Cruiser was loved by many, not just because of its aesthetics, but also for its ruggedness and its apparent off-road capability. So when Toyota ceased the production of this gas-guzzling V6 midsize SUV, it wasn’t really a pleasant news for the fans and naturally, the need for a spiritual successor arose.

The successor could’ve been the Tj Cruiser concept MPV from the recently concluded 2017 Tokyo Motor Show but sadly it isn’t, and we gave you 3 reasons why.

However, Toyota is bound to reveal another SUV concept at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show by the end of November. The teaser image above is the FT-AC, which stands for Future Toyota Adventure Concept. With the faint image and its name combined, we can’t help but bank on the idea that this might be the FJ Cruiser successor that fans have been waiting for.

But don’t get your hopes up yet, as our hypothesis (or should I say wishful thinking) is just based on what the teaser image provides. For instance, the FT-AC’s bulging fender flares are so macho yet, it’s combined with LED lights, visible curves, and contrasting body-roof colors. All of these point toward the main ingredient in FJ Cruiser’s appeal.

The retro-look may have been dropped in the FT-AC as we see modern aesthetics in this concept vehicle. Also, with the word ‘Future’ in its name, we can’t help but ponder on the possibility of this SUV to have a hybrid powertrain — maybe, maybe not.

All of these are just speculations and should be taken with a grain of salt. If you’re dying to get the details about the FT-AC (just like us) and would like to be the first to know, Toyota put up a livestream site that will go live on December 1, 2017 at 1:00 a.m PHT.
