Sayonara Suzuki-san

Mr. Satoru Suzuki, now the former president of Toyota Motor Philippines, bids farewell to the members of the media during a media lunch held last December 10, 2019. This ends his four-year term as president of the top-selling brand in the country.

President Suzuki’s term lasted from January 2016 to December 2019. His term was also marked by the resurgence of local parts manufacturing, grassroots motorsports, and environmental initiatives. During his term, he also introduced global models into the local Toyota lineup, such as the Toyota Hiace and the introduction of the first Corolla Altis Hybrid in the Philippines.

His hands-on leadership approach propelled Toyota to rebound from last year’s tough market conditions, and we are fortunate to have a President who truly led by example,

During his time as president, Suzuki-san oversaw the CARS program participation of TMP with the Philippine government through the introduction of the new Toyota Vios. His term also marked three major launches this included the world premiere of the Toyota Hiace, the introduction of the Toyota GR Supra, and the all-new Corolla Altis with its hybrid vehicle variant.

Before leaving his position Mr. Suzuki initiated projects starting with a P4.5-billion Luzon Hub, which will serve as the brand’s logistics operation center in the area. This will also streamline the import of vehicles for the Japanese automotive manufacturer. He also initiated the Toyota Mobile App with the aim to connect customers with dealerships better. Another initiated project was the introduction of a new business model to explore the long-term leasing of the brand’s vehicles, a first for the country.

Before the media lunch concluded, Mr. Suzuki had a few words to say to all who were present. He told the audience that this wasn’t goodbye, but a new beginning and that he was sure that we would see him again soon as he took his final bow in front of the local media.

Toyota Motor Philippines will publically announce the next president of the company early next year.
