Volkswagen Ph donates musical instruments to talented CENTEX students

Following the launch of the Volkswagen Child Safety Initiative (CSI), Volkswagen Philippines together with the Ayala Foundation, Inc. carried out its 2nd corporate social responsibility project by donating musical instruments to the pupils of the Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education (CENTEX) in Tondo.

The aim of CENTEX is to provide bright but economically disadvantaged children earn their primary education that’s comparable to the best schools in the country. This fits perfectly in the Ayala Foundation’s 4 key programs on social development which are Youth Leadership, Sustainable Livelihood, Arts and Culture, and Education.

For this reason, VW Philippines has chosen this special project and help transform the lives of underprivileged children as their 2nd CSR activity for this year.

VW Philippines donated 21 violins and 2 cellos in total, which were handed over by to beaming CENTEX students accompanied by their teachers and parent. The ceremony was then attended by VW Ph President and CEO John Philip Orbeta and Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan.

“For our CSR projects, we have chosen to go into on the most basic foundations of society, and that is the care of the ones that we love the most – our children,” said Orbeta.

“Music, in particular playing musical instruments, has countless benefits for children; it increases their learning ability and is an effective way of building teamwork and confidence,” he added.

After the turnover, recipients of the musical instruments from CENTEX gave an impressive musical performance showing their appreciation.
