Volkswagen Child Safety Initiative

Volkswagen Philippines intends to create a future with safer roads through kids. With this, the company launched the 2017 Child Safety Initiative (CSI) campaign last May 20 in Robinsons Magnolia.

In case you didn’t know, the brand’s CSI campaign has been educating kids and adults to become responsible road users since it was introduced in 2015. To this date, Volkswagen PH says a total of 7,917 children and 5,955 parents/guardians have participated in 37 venues in Luzon and Visayas.

Despite of the program’s success for the past 2 years, Volkswagen PH wants to make it better by introducing an upgraded version of its CSI campaign this 2017.

Dubbed as ‘Steps to Safety,’ this program aims to teach children aged 9 to 12 years old about pedestrian safety. It begins with a 15-minute seminar about real-life and on-street scenarios such as instructions to walk “facing the traffic” and in “single file” whenever there are no pedestrian sidewalks. The seminar is conducted by executive officers of Philippine Global Road Safety Partnership (PGRSP).

The seminar is then followed by a practical application through the use of a virtual reality (VR) game, exclusively developed for Volkswagen PH by award-winning game developer Haraya.

Meanwhile, kids aged 4 to 8 years old boarded the Volkswagen push carts and drove it along the Junior Driving Course. It featured a miniature community complete with road signs and stop lights. In addition, mini-lectures were held about the importance of the signs. Graduates of the said course then received their junior driver’s license.
