Volvo debuts the all-new 2017 S90 luxury sedan

Following the success of the Volvo XC90 SUV, the swedish automaker recently launched its entry to the luxury sedan market, the all-new S90, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Externally, the S90 assumes the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) found on the latest XC90. As a result, it presents an overall muscular appearance especially up front. Its new grille design served as a fitting background for the brand’s logo. Meanwhile, T-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRL) accent the grille on both sides.

Inside, the latest S90 features a center dash that houses a large touch screen LCD display called the Volvo Sensus Connect. This was designed to reduce button clutter on the dash and streamline the operation of the car’s gizmos for comfort, entertainment, and more.

The S90 has taken a big step forward in terms of driving dynamics, performance and ride. We have completely redesigned the Volvo driving experience from the ground up to deliver a sense of precision, engaging control and comfort said Dr. Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President, Research & Development at Volvo Car Group.

Finally, Volvo announced that the 2017 S90 will be powered by a 2.0L engine that comes in 3 kinds; a turbocharged version (T5) which delivers 240 hp, a supercharged variant (T6) which puts out 302 hp, and a plug-in hybrid (T8) that churns out 400 hp.

Volvo Philippines hasn't announced when or if the all-new S90 would reach Philippine shores. We think we would all agree that it would be a shame if it didn't.
