Scandinavian Motors Corporation (SMC), the exclusive distributor of Volvo in the country, has updated the Volvo V40 with a slew of improvements, all while retaining the same price as the previous model. A new headlight system and engine enhancements highlight why the new V40 gives you more luxury for your money.
The first noticeable difference would be the 18-inch rims it’s riding on, a 3-inch upgrade from the previous 15. A panorama glass roof is also available up top, but the biggest exterior upgrade would be the Active Bi-Xenon headlamps. It can turn up to 15 degrees in both directions, following the way you steer for better visibility during turns. It also self-adjusts to maintain the correct angle on the road, even during hard stops or sudden accelerations.
A new Drive-E engine provides more power while keeping CO2 emissions low to an outstanding 82g/km, making the past average of 149g/km look jurassic. The 2.0L powerplant churns out 190 hp and 300 Nm of torque, a significant increase from the previous 180 hp and 240 Nm. To handle great power means great transmission, that’s why Volvo put in a new 8-speed automatic tranny with paddle shifters for better control whenever you feel like it.
Inside is an Adaptive Digital Display with three modes – Elegance, Eco, and Performance. For infotainment, it’s handled by the Sensus system, which is a Bluetooth hands-free experience that will allow you to play music and even read text messages out loud while keeping your eye on the road and hands on the wheel.
SMC has also brought the R-Design edition for those who want an edgier aesthetic for their V40.
