What Alternate Routes Can You Take to Avoid the Black Nazarene Procession?

Several roads in Manila will be completely unpassable in observance of the annual procession of the revered Black Nazarene. If you don’t want to get stuck in traffic, here’s the updated rerouting of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

From Northern/Southern Manila:

Northern Manila motorists are advised to ply the Bonifacio Drive. To reach Taft Avenue, they can also go to A. Soriano to Magallanes Drive, make a right turn to P. Burgos, and drive straight to Lagusnilad. On the other hand, drivers that are coming from Manila’s southern part should utilize Roxas Boulevard northbound. If you are coming from north of Taft Avenue, you should take A. Villegas and then towards Quezon Bridge.

From Quezon City:

Vehicles from Quezon City can still pass the stretch of España but expect to turn right to P. Campa, left Andalucia, right to Fuguso, and then left to Mapua.

From Divisoria:

Motorists from Divisoria are advised to take C. Recto Avenue, turn left to T. Alonzo, right to Furguso and another right to Andalucia.

From Legarda:

Take a right going to Recto. You can also take a left turn going to Mendiola.

From España:

To reach the South Pier Zone from España, PUJs and light vehicles can still take the normal Quezon Bridge Route.

For trucks:

Heavy vehicles coming from the south are recommended to take Pres. Osmena, turn right Pres. Quirino all the way to Nagtahan via A.H. Lacson to Capulong and vice versa.
