About Abarth Philippines

The arrival of Italian racing car manufacturer Abarth in the Philippines just adds to the rich existing European brands in the country to date. Counted on as a fully-owned subsidiary of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles FCA, the legendary scorpion brand from Turin, Italy (formerly in Bologna), enters the Philippine market with the introduction of its mini subcompact hatchbacks 595 and 695. Legend might be an understatement but Carlo Abarth founded the business in March 1949 as Abarth & C. S.p.A.

The rich history of years on track-competing has been passed on to generations of nameplates rooting from the 204 A model – Abarth's first car since it was founded in 1949. From there, Abarth and C., bearing Carlo Abarth's Scorpio astrological sign as its logo, continued to manufacture track-worthy cars. The acquisition of Abarth by Fiat in July 1971 gave the Italian race car-maker the privilege to become Fiat's racing department.

Currently, Abarth globally offers three nameplates under its scorpion emblem: the 124, 595, and 695. The Philippine market has been granted with the two latter monikers, the 595 and 695.
