About Suzuki Philippines

Suzuki Philippines Inc. is an integrated automotive and motorcycle company in the country, delivering well-aligned performance figures last 2017, with market shares scoping at around 4.06% which renders a total growth of 34.21%. Its history dates back to the 1950s as a business venture of an architectural and engineering company Rufino D. Antonio Associates Inc. (ADAI). ADAI was one of the country’s leading distributors of appliances imported from Japan and soon began to expand as a motorcycle importer. After years of success, ADAI soon was acquired by Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan, and have assumed the company name Suzuki Philippine Incorporated (SPI).

With the booming increase in terms of sales, constant expansion commenced as the years gone by for the brand. After venturing the competitive phase of appliance and motorcycle production, Suzuki Philippines then commenced its automobile operations locally with Pilipinas Transport Industries, Inc. (PTII) on October 1999. In 2012, Suzuki Philippines relocated its factory to Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna. The said factory is situated within a 37,265 sqm. plant area in order to accommodate its localization and expansion program in the Philippines.

Today, Suzuki Philippines stands firm and proud with its wide variety of vehicle selections ranging from its well-known plates including the famous Suzuki Swift which made quite of an impact since its local launch back in August 2005, with unit allocations immediately sold out even before the respective stocks could arrive. The brand also caters larger families with a more proper people carrier like the Suzuki Ertiga and Suzuki APV, which offer the best value for money in an MPV and van. Today, the brand is indeed known for selling value-packed miniature models, mainly pertaining as to the Suzuki Swift, Swift Dzire, Suzuki Celerio, and Suzuki Jimny, as well as the youthful Suzuki Vitara compact crossover.

In a global context, Suzuki Motor Corporation was founded due to a new venture started by Suzuki Loom Works. A company founded in 1909 by Mochio Suzuki, wherein they would build weaving looms for the silk industry along with some weaving machines that are set to be exported overseas. Its path towards building prototype vehicles began in 1937. The brand also managed to produce motorcycles during its early years in the industry including the popular Colleda12cc 2-cycle with sales nearing at around 7,000 total motorcycles sold per month. Over the years, Suzuki had worked with several automotive brands including General Motors, Fiat, Subaru, Mazda, Volkswagen, and Mitsubishi. Currently, the company is ranked as the ninth largest auto manufacturer in terms of production volume with nearly 55,000 employees functioning throughout its five main production facilities and 133 distributors.

Suzuki Philippines, Incorporated is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan.
