The BYD Atto 2 DM-i is BYD's entry into the subcompact plug-in hybrid crossover segment in the Philippines, distributed through AC Mobility. It is offered in two variants: the Atto 2 DM-i in Dynamic and Premium variants. The DM-i variants employ BYD's Super DM-i plug-in hybrid system pairing a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a 1.5-liter high-efficiency generator for an extended range of up to 1,045 km. Together, along with the EV model, the Atto 2 range offers Filipino buyers a choice between committed electric motoring and the range security of a plug-in hybrid, all within the same nameplate.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The Atto 2 DM-i uses BYD's Super DM-i system, pairing a 163 hp Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a 1.5-liter high-efficiency generator as a range extender, producing 300 Nm of torque. The battery is a 7.9 kWh BYD Blade Battery, good for 45 km of NEDC-rated pure electric range. The generator extends total range to 1,045 km, eliminating range anxiety for long-distance drivers. Top speed is 180 km/h while zero to 100 km/h takes 9.1 seconds. AC charging is via Type 2 at a maximum of 3.3 kW, with a full charge from 15 percent to 100 percent in two hours. A 45-liter fuel tank is fitted. V2L capability and a V2L adapter are standard on both DM-i variants. A 3.3 kW wall-mounted charger is included with the DM-i Premium.
All variants share Economy, Normal, Sport, and Snow drive modes, regenerative braking, and front-wheel drive. Suspension is a MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear setup on all three variants, with disc brakes front and rear, an electric parking brake, and auto brake hold. Wheel size is 215/65 R16 on DM-i Dynamic, stepping up to 215/60 R17 on the DM-i Premium. A tire repair kit is standard throughout. Steering is Electric Power Steering with tilt and telescopic adjustment.
Technology Features
The DM-i Premium and DM-i Dynamic both feature a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, while the DM-i Dynamic uses a smaller 10.1-inch touchscreen. All variants support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB connectivity, and Bluetooth handsfree calling and audio streaming, with a six-speaker audio system and an integrated voice assistant across the lineup. BYD's DiLink ecosystem is ready on all variants, with 4G connectivity, OTA updating, and BYD Cloud Service access. The steering wheel on all variants integrates controls for camera, cruise control, multimedia playback, voice commands, and a multi-information display, with the DM-i variants sporting a urethane steering wheel.
Convenience features are generous across both variants: Smart Entry with Keyless Start, NFC card access, push-button start and stop, speed-sensing door locks, and a 12V power socket are all standard. USB charging ports are provided at both front and rear positions. The DM-i Dynamic provides driver-only one-touch with the remaining windows standard up/down, while the DM-i Premium gets an all-window one-touch operation.
Exterior
All two variants share a full LED headlamp suite with auto on/off, manual height adjustment, and Follow Me Home function, along with LED daytime running lights, side mirror-integrated turn lamps, LED tail lamps, LED rear fog lamps, and an LED high-mount brake lamp. Door side mirrors are power-folding and power-adjustable on the EV Premium, while the DM-i variants offer manual folding with power adjustment. Heated mirrors are standard across all three. Front and rear wipers are variable intermittent on all variants, with a rear windshield defogger standard throughout.
Interior
The DM-i Dynamic uses fabric seating with soft-touch panel trim finish while the DM-i Premium steps it up to leather. The instrument cluster is an 8.8-inch LCD display across all variants. Air conditioning is automatic climate control on both DM-i variants. A PM2.5 filter is standard on the EV Premium but not on the DM-i variants. Rear air vents are absent on the EV Premium but present on both DM-i variants. Physical switch and touchscreen-integrated controls are common throughout.
Driver seat adjustment is 6-way manual on the DM-i Dynamic, and also 6-way manual on the DM-i Premium. Front passenger adjustment is 4-way manual across all variants. The rear passenger bench is a 60:40 split type on all three. Interior trim finish is leather with soft-touch panels throughout, regardless of seat material. All variants include map lights for front and rear passengers, driver and passenger sun visors, grab rails, a center console compartment, a luggage compartment light, and 4 cup holders
Safety
Both variants share driver, front passenger, and far-side airbags as standard. Side curtain airbags are fitted to both the EV Premium and DM-i Premium, but are absent on the DM-i Dynamic. Three-point ELR seatbelts are standard for all seating positions. Seatbelt reminders are front-only on the DM-i Dynamic, and front and rear on the DM-i Premium. ISOFIX anchorage is front-row on the EV Premium and DM-i Dynamic, with both front and rear ISOFIX on the DM-i Premium.
Active safety systems common to all variants include Traction Control System, Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Brake Override System, and an Electronic Anti-Theft System. Child Presence Detection is exclusive to both DM-i variants and is absent on the EV Premium.
The DM-i Premium receives the most comprehensive ADAS package: a 360-degree View with See-Through Mode, 6 parking sensors, and Adaptive Cruise Control, alongside Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Speed Limit Information, Intelligent Speed Limit Warning, Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist, and High Beam Assist.
