BYD has entered the subcompact crossover segment with the newest family member in the S family – the S1. Locally, the all-new S1 will take on with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke, among others. It measures 4,360mm long with a height of 1,650mm and width of 1,785mm, which is a competitive figure in its segment.
The exterior features BYD's chrome wing-type grille that extends to the headlights, while the foglights get elaborate frames connecting it to the lower intake. This design language is far more intricate than the Chinese brand's existing lineup of vehicles. On the other hand, the cabin features an 8-inch Android Multimedia System for its head unit. The seats are covered with leather upholstery
Lastly, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that gives it 150 hp and 240 Nm of torque. This powertrain is mated to a 6-speed automatic, dual-clutch transmission (DCT), which is rare among its rivals. In the Philippines, the S1 is available in 2 exterior colors, Timo White and French Red.
