BYD Philippines officially brought the Sealion 5 DM-i on June 20, 2025. Serving as the next DM-i offering for BYD, the Sealion 5 DM-i was launched with one variant with a price tag of P1,248,000. The variant available here in the Philippines is equipped with a 12.96 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate Blade Battery capable of providing 71 km of pure electric driving range and over 1,000 km of driving range in tandem with the gasoline generator. At launch, the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is offered with an introductory price of P1,198,000.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
At the heart of the Sealion 5 DM-i is the Super DM-i system, a dual-mode hybrid powertrain that prioritizes electric propulsion while incorporating a highly efficient internal combustion engine as a range extender. This system delivers a total output of 197 PS and 300 Nm of torque, enabling the crossover to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds. Drivers can choose from three selectable driving modes: Economy, Normal, and Sport. It’s equipped with a 12.96 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate Blade Battery, capable of providing up to 71 km of pure electric driving range based on NEDC standards. When charged via a 3.3 kW AC system, the battery reaches full capacity in approximately 4.5 hours. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality adds versatility by enabling external device charging, which is perfect for outdoor adventures or emergency use.
