The GAC AION UT is a bold entry into the Philippine electric vehicle market, joining GAC’s expanding lineup of new energy vehicles. Built on GAC's AEP 3.0 electric platform, the AION UT combines a quirky, character-rich design language with practical range, rapid charging capability, and a safety and technology suite that punches well above its segment. It seats five, charges fast, and aims to make zero-emissions motoring feel anything but ordinary.
The UT is offered in a single variant, the Elite, covering a broad spectrum of buyers, from those seeking an affordable EV entry point to those who want the full complement of features. Both variants are powered by the same drivetrain and battery, ensuring that no matter which you choose, the core driving experience remains identical.
Launch
GAC launched the AION UT on May 21, 2026, offered in a single variant — the Elite — with an SRP of P1,068,000. At launch, GAC is offering two discounts. The first is a ₱50,000 introductory discount running until June 30, 2026. The second is an early-buyer incentive of an additional P20,000 for the first 400 purchasers, bringing the total discount to P70,000 and effectively lowering the price to P998,000.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The AION UT rides on GAC's AEP 3.0 dedicated electric vehicle platform, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm — a generous figure for a small-hatchback body type that translates to a spacious interior relative to the car's footprint. Overall dimensions come in at 4,270 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,575 mm tall.
Motivation comes from a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) driving the front wheels, producing a maximum of 134 hp. The zero to 100 km/h sprint is dispatched in 11.4 seconds, and top speed is capped at 150 km/h — figures well suited to Philippine urban and highway driving.
Underpinning the AION UT is a McPherson independent front suspension paired with a torsion beam non-independent rear setup, with ventilated disc brakes at the front and solid discs at the rear. Driving modes are configurable between Comfort, Sport, and Power Save, while three levels of regenerative braking — Close, Weak, and Medium — allow the driver to tailor the energy recovery experience.
Technology Features
The AION UT comes equipped with the ADiGO Intelligent Cockpit System as standard. At its center is the 14.6-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay integration, mobile phone Bluetooth connectivity, and a front 12V power supply. The Premium variant adds a front row Sub/Type C charging port alongside a second-row USB port, keeping passengers powered throughout the journey. Audio is handled by a 6-speaker system.
The ADiGO Intelligent Driving System on the Premium variant adds a 360° surround-view parking camera with four lenses, complementing the standard reverse camera and reverse parking sensors available on both variants. Dual-tone zone voice interaction is also standard on the Premium.
On the battery side, the AION UT carries a 44.12 kWh Magazine Battery using Lithium-Iron-Phosphate chemistry — a chemistry choice that prioritizes longevity and thermal stability. The battery is rated for a lifespan of 1.5 million to 15 million kilometers. DC Fast Charging is supported at 64 kW, adding approximately 150 km of range in just 15 minutes. AC charging output is rated at 6.6 kW. NEDC-rated range stands at 420 km. A notable addition is the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) external discharge function at 3.3 kW, allowing the AION UT to power external devices or appliances — a useful feature for outdoor adventures or emergencies.
Battery safety features are extensive, including Solid Electrolyte Interface SEI self-repair technology, an IP67 waterproof rating, 3D rapid liquid-cooling battery management, low-temperature heating function, a full-time security system, bullet penetration protection, and a collision cut-off high voltage function covering front, side, and rear collision scenarios.
Exterior
The AION UT's design is its most immediately striking quality. Its "Cute Bird Big Eyes" LED headlights — as officially described by the brand — give the front end an expressive, almost animated character that sets it apart from the more restrained aesthetics typical of the segment. LED daytime running lights, rear fog lights, and high-mounted brake lights are also fitted, along with an LED taillight strip at the rear.
Practical exterior features include LED automatic headlight on/off, a "Follow Me Home" function that keeps the headlights on for a set period after the car is locked, a dynamic welcome light, and an intelligent high beam system. Heated exterior mirrors, front and rear windshield defoggers across all four doors, an automatic sensing front wiper, and a boneless rear wiper round out the all-weather capability.
The Elite variant rolls on alloy wheels in a 215/60 R16 tire specification. Two colors are available: Emerald Green, Champs-Élysées Beige, Seine Silver and Rococo White.
Interior
Inside, the AION UT prioritizes a sense of openness and modernity. The Premium variant's walk-through front cabin design eliminates the conventional center tunnel, freeing up floor space and giving the interior a distinctly airy, lounge-like feel. The dashboard is minimalist and clean, centered around a 14.6-inch central control screen with a 1920×1080 resolution, complemented by an 8.88-inch full LCD instrument cluster.
Premium variant buyers are treated to microfiber leather on the steering wheel, premium leather seats, front air vent ambient lighting, a lighted makeup mirror, theatre mode, and a Space Master versatile cargo/storage area. A rear air vent — absent on the Elite — also makes an appearance. Seating for five is accommodated with rear seats that fold down to extend the 440-liter trunk capacity further. The Elite variant receives driver's seat 6-way electric adjustment, while the Premium adds 6-way manual adjustment for both the driver and front passenger.
Safety
The AION UT Premium carries a C-NCAP Five-Star Safety rating, providing a strong baseline of confidence for buyers. Passive safety equipment includes driver and passenger airbags, a V-shaped cavity side air curtain (Premium), and a 5-Axis Roll Calibration Airbag Controller (Premium). Rear door child safety locks and a child safety seat fixing device via ISOFIX are also fitted.
Active safety systems are comprehensive across both variants and include Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Hill Start Assist Control, Traction Control System, Chassis Stability Technology, Vehicle Stability Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, and a Burglar Alarm.
Warranty coverage is among the most generous in the segment: 8 years or 160,000 km for the vehicle, and 8 years or 200,000 km specifically for the motor and battery — a significant assurance for those making their first leap into electric vehicle ownership.
