The GAC AION V is AION's flagship electric crossover SUV offering in the Philippines, and it arrives with the ambition to match. Where the AION UT charms with compact city-friendliness, the AION V impresses with sheer scale, sophistication, and capability. It is a compact crossover SUV built on GAC's AEP 3.0 platform, seating five across two rows, and carrying a China-Europe Double Five-Star Standard Body rating — a structural credential that speaks directly to its safety-first engineering. With a NEDC-rated range of 602 km, a 150 kW fast-charging capability, and a technology suite anchored by the ADiGO Intelligent Driving System, the AION V makes a compelling case as a premium, long-range family electric crossover SUV.
Two variants are available — Elite and Premium — with the Premium adding meaningful upgrades in comfort, autonomous driving hardware, and luxury appointments. Both share the same powertrain and battery foundation, ensuring the driving experience is equally strong regardless of choice.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The AION V is built on the AEP 3.0 dedicated electric vehicle platform, with a generous 2,775 mm wheelbase that prioritizes interior cabin space. Overall dimensions measure 4,605 mm in length, 1,854 mm in width, and 1,686 mm in height — properly proportioned crossover SUV territory with a commanding road presence. Ground clearance is a respectable 173 mm, and the turning radius is 5.6 meters. Curb weight is 2,330 kg.
Power is delivered through a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) driving the front wheels. The Elite variant produces 181 hp and 240 Nm of torque, while the Premium steps up to 221 hp and 240 Nm. The zero to 100 km/h sprint takes 8.5 seconds on the Elite and a quicker 7.8 seconds on the Premium. Top speed on both is capped at 160 km/h. Three driving modes are available: Comfort, Sport, and Power Save.
Suspension is a fully independent McPherson front and torsion beam rear non-independent configuration, with ventilated disc brakes at the front and solid discs at the rear. Alloy wheels are fitted across both variants, wearing 225/45 R18 tires.
The AION V uses a Magazine Battery with Lithium-Iron-Phosphate chemistry — a setup rated for between 1.5 million and 15 million kilometers of lifespan. Battery capacity is 64.5 kWh, and NEDC-rated driving range is an impressive 602 km — among the most competitive in its segment at this price level.
AC charging is rated at 6.6 kW via a standard EU Standard AC Type 2 DC CS2 port. DC fast charging capability is rated at 150 kW on the Premium (versus 64.5 kW on the Elite), with the Premium capable of adding 30–80 percent state of charge in just 20 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external discharge is supported at 3.3 kW across both variants, enabling the AION V to function as a mobile power source for appliances or outdoor equipment.
Battery safety features are comprehensive: bullet penetration protection, Solid Electrolyte Interface SEI self-repair technology, IP67 waterproofing, 3D rapid liquid-cooling battery management, low-temperature heating function, a full-time security system, and a collision cut-off high-voltage function covering front, side, and rear impact scenarios.
Technology Features
The AION V comes equipped with the ADiGO Intelligent Cockpit System as standard across both variants. The centerpiece is a large 14.6-inch central control screen running at 1920×1080 resolution, paired with an 8.88-inch full LCD instrument cluster. The four-zone voice control system covers multimedia, navigation, telephone, air conditioning, wipers, sunshade, seat heating, and seat ventilation — giving the driver wide voice command capability without touching a screen.
Apple CarPlay connectivity is standard, alongside mobile phone Bluetooth and front-row Sub Port/Type C charging. The Premium adds a front-row 12V power supply, a second-row USB port, a smart ambient lighting system, and a 150W wireless charger for mobile phones. Both variants also offer an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot, a front built-in dashcam, a reverse camera, and reverse parking sensors. Audio is handled by a 9-speaker system including a 40Hz diamond-sound subwoofer on the Premium.
The ADiGO Intelligent Driving System is where the Premium particularly distinguishes itself. It adds a High-Precision Millimeter-Wave Radar, Smart Driving Camera (4 units), Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Cruise Assistance (ICA), Integrated Cruise Assistance (IGA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA), Intelligent High Beam Control (HBC), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). The Elite, meanwhile, provides 1 smart driving camera as a starting point. Both variants include Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Crossing Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW).
Exterior
The AION V carries itself with the confident, upright stance expected of a proper family crossover SUV. Up front, T-Rex Claw LED daytime running lights give the fascia a distinctive, predatory character, complemented by LED automatic headlights with on/off function, a Follow Me Home feature, dynamic welcome light, headlight leveling height adjustment, intelligent high beam, and LED taillights. Rear LED daytime running lights, rear fog lights, and high-mounted brake lights are also fitted.
Convenience features on the exterior include hidden door handles for a clean, flush aesthetic, heated exterior mirrors with electronic and automatic folding, exterior mirror memory, front and rear windshield defogger, a panoramic sky-style sunroof with electric sunshade on the Premium, an automatic sensing front wiper with boneless rear wiper, and a roof rack for added cargo versatility. Trunk capacity is rated at 427 liters, expanding to 978 liters with the second row folded flat.
Interior
The AION V's cabin is where it most clearly differentiates itself from more basic electric crossover SUVs. The Premium variant opens with a leatherette-trimmed steering wheel and genuine Nappa leather seats, elevated over the PVC seating on the Elite. A four-way adjustable steering column provides ergonomic flexibility for drivers of varying statures.
Power seat adjustment is available for both driver and front passenger on the Premium, with the driver also getting seat heating and ventilation. Eight-point massage seats are a Premium-exclusive luxury, as are second-row passenger seat electric adjustment and driver-and-passenger seat memory. The second-row tray table, full-flat foldable front seats, and second-row center headrest and armrest with cup holder make long journeys comfortable for all five occupants. The reclining chair for the second row can be adjusted up to 137 degrees.
Other cabin highlights include an automatic anti-glare interior review mirror (Elite), the upgraded big vanity mirror with light on the Premium, windshield soundproof glass, a front soundproof glass layer, fully automatic double-flow air conditioning, an 18-in-1 integrated heat pump system, second-row air vents, front and rear 12V power supplies, a PM2.5 filter, and intelligent ambient lighting. Notably, the Premium variant adds a car refrigerator and a Pin 2.5 sensor for cabin air quality monitoring. Cargo management is supported with a space divider and spare tire.
Charging ports include 1 Type A and 1 Type C in the front row, and 1 Type A in the second row.
Safety
The AION V carries a China-Europe Double Five-Star Standard Body rating — a meaningful structural safety credential by international benchmarks. Passive safety equipment includes front side airbags, front single-stage dual SRS airbags, integrated side curtain airbags, distal airbags, and a far-side center airbag on the Premium — delivering broad occupant protection in a wide range of collision scenarios. A child safety seat fixing device via ISOFIX and rear door child safety locks are also fitted.
The active safety suite is extensive: Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Chassis Stability Technology, Vehicle Stability Control, Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Hill Start Assist Control, HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Regenerative Braking Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Isofix Child Safety features, and a Burglar Alarm. A Driver Monitoring System (DMS) is standard on the Premium, and a front and rear sensor array comes on both variants. A 360° surround-view camera is available on the Premium (1 camera on Elite, 4-view on Premium).
Warranty terms mirror those of the AION UT: a comprehensive 8 years or 160,000 km vehicle warranty, and 8 years or 200,000 km coverage for the motor and battery.
