The GAC GN6 is the newest addition to the GAC lineup in the Philippines. First launched in 2018 at the Beijing Motor Show it serves as the brand's seven-seater MPV offering. The GN6 is feature-packed and comes equipped with a powerful and economical, turbocharged gasoline engine that pushes out 169 hp and 265 Nm of torque paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The GN6 is unique in that it offers an upscale interior at an affordable price. In addition, the GN6 is the only MPV in its class to offer captain’s seats in the second row while being an affordable car to purchase.
On the outside, the GN6 presents a sleek, sophisticated yet understated appearance. GAC’s MPV is 4,780 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and stands 1,730 mm tall. As for the interior, the GN6 is as refined and sophisticated as the exterior. Inside, the cabin is equipped with a range of modern amenities, such as a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Under the hood, the GAC GN6 is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers ample power and good fuel efficiency. Launch
GAC launched the GN6 on March 5, 2021, in an online event. Legado Motors introduced the 7-seater MPV to the Philippine market with a starting price of Php 1,480,000. It also comes with a 5-year warranty or 150,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Made from high tensile-strength steel, the GN6 features a unibody chassis for comfort and rigidity in key areas. The model also features a MacPherson strut front suspension set and a torsion beam rear suspension for comfort and handling. The MPV also gets disc brakes all around, with a vented pair in the front, and solid discs in the rear that sit in a set of 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
Powering the GAC GN6 is a 1.5-liter E-Turbo Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (DCVVT) engine that produces 169 hp and 265 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine itself is Euro 5 compliant, and the MPV's tank capacity is rated at 52 liters.
Technology Features
The GN6 includes quite a few unique technology features that aren't present in the segment. Features like the 360-degree Quite Car technology cancel out ambient noise, mitigating the impact of road and wind noise while the car is in motion. The MPV's instrument cluster is a 7-inch digital screen that features a full-color LCD panel. The gauge cluster shares the same glass with the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system for a clean and elegant look. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, which allows users to output to a 6-speaker audio system.
On top of that, drivers can enjoy the keyless entry system with push-start ignition, as well as remote window and sunroof controls. GAC also supplies a reverse camera with the GN6, which outputs to the infotainment system in the dashboard. Parking sensors for the rear are also standard, as are brake hold assist, and an electronic parking brake.
Exterior
Coming in at a length of 4,780 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, and a height of 1,730 mm, the GN6 is larger than some of its rivals in the MPV segment. With a wheelbase of 2,810, expect semi-compact dimensions. The front end features an all-new Flying Dynamics design with a large grille lined with chrome as well as a pair DRLs and LED headlights. The rear is also reminiscent of the larger GN8 minivan, and it also features LED lights for its position, brake, signal, and reverse lamps.
Interior
The interior of the GN6 is spacious, featuring a 2-2-3 seating arrangement. Up to 7 occupants may ride with space to spare for cargo. As such, the trunk space of the GN6 is rated at 326 liters and can be maximized by folding the seats, resulting in up to 1,100 litters, enough to fit most large bags or bulkier cargo. For easier cargo loading and hauling, the GN6 was designed with a fold-flat floor, thereby maximizing all available cabin space for cargo. Interior upholstery is a light-tone leather that is accented by dark brown tones, but GAC also provides a dark brown interior option for the MPV. Captains' chairs are also standard, and they're featured in the middle row of the cabin. GAC was also able to equip its MPV with a standard sunroof, which can also be controlled via the keyfob.
Safety
GAC makes the GN6 with high-tensile strength steel, allowing for a high level of strength if ever an accident occurs. Other safety features include dual front airbags, and front side airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, a BOSCH ESP 9.3 electronic stability control system, a traction control system, hill-ascend and descent control, an engine immobilizer, an alarm, and as well as three-point seatbelts for all occupants with ISOFIX tethers for child seats.
