Hongqi HS5 Overview
The Hongqi HS5 is a midsize SUV that brings together strong design, comfort, and safety in one refined package. It carries the brand’s signature “Wings of Hongqi” lighting style, giving it a distinct presence. The HS5 is meant for those who want a premium daily driver with smart features, classy looks, and a focus on protection and control. In the Philippines, it’s available in Deluxe and Flagship variants.

Both variants of the HS5 are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 165 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque. The vehicle runs on a front-engine, front-wheel-drive setup with a combined fuel consumption of 5.71 L/100 km for the Deluxe and 7.52 L/100 km for the Flagship. It rides on 20-inch tires with a 255/45 size and has a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. The HS5 uses a solid frame structure made of more than 60% high-strength steel and 1500 MPa thermal-formed steel for improved crash resistance.

The HS5 packs in smart features like a multifunction steering wheel, gear shift buttons on the wheel (Flagship only), and wireless phone charging. It has dual-zone climate control with PM2.5 air filter and AQS (air quality sensor). You also get USB ports, keyless entry, push-start, and automatic parking (Flagship only). Driving modes include Economic, Comfort, Sport, Snow, and Off-road, paired with smart suspension tuning on the higher trim.

The exterior features include automatic LED lighting systems, headlamp delay-off, leveling, and intelligent high-beam control (only on Flagship). The “Wings of Hongqi” greeting lights turn on automatically as you approach, adding a personalized welcome. Standard features include electric folding heated side mirrors, power tailgate, anti-pinch windows, acoustic glass, and panoramic glass roof with tilt-and-slide. Both variants also come with LED door sills, assist lights when turning, and full LED taillamps for brake, turn, and reverse lights.

Inside, the HS5 offers premium comfort with Nappa and Alcantara-trimmed seats. The driver gets a 12-way power seat with memory, while the front seats come with both heating and ventilation. The second row can fold flat with a 60/40 split, and the outboard seats are also heated on the Flagship. Both trims include footwell lighting, ambient color lighting (253 colors), and aluminum or carbon-style trims depending on the model. There’s also a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system and two 12.3-inch displays for instrument data and infotainment. A heated steering wheel and automatic dimming mirror are available on the Flagship variant.

The HS5 covers safety from every angle. It includes airbags for the driver, front passenger, sides, and curtain zones, along with seatbelt reminders for all seats and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Safety systems include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), and Hydraulic Brake Boost (HBB). Both variants are fitted with dynamic auto-hold, forward collision warning with AEB, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, hill hold control, and a bird’s-eye view camera for parking. The Flagship also includes a Head-Up Display (HUD), advanced cruise control, and visual reversing aids.
