The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a fully electric five-seater crossover that operates on a rear-wheel-drive system. It uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor located at the rear, delivering up to 226 Hp and 350 Nm of torque. The electric powertrain is supported by an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a driving range of up to 530 kilometers on a full charge. The battery operates at 697 volts and sends power through a single-speed reduction gear transmission.
This model includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing power output both inside and outside the car for portable devices or small appliances. The IONIQ 5 measures 4,655 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,605 mm in height. It has a 3,000 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 160 mm. These dimensions are designed to provide a stable ride and maximize cabin space.
The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 PE represents the latest update in Hyundai’s electric vehicle lineup. This new variant continues Hyundai’s global rollout of long-range electric vehicles with updated features and technologies. With the expansion of EV infrastructure and government incentives, the IONIQ 5 is positioned as a key product in Hyundai’s electric mobility strategy.
The IONIQ 5 was developed with focus on performance and utility. Hyundai introduced the updated variant with new equipment under the EV GLS 2WD Long Range badge. The launch of this version reflects Hyundai’s intention to keep the IONIQ 5 competitive in both driving range and interior features while expanding its market reach.
The IONIQ 5 runs on a 2-wheel drive layout, with the electric motor placed at the rear axle. It uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 226 Hp of power and 350 Nm of torque. Power delivery is handled by a single-speed reduction gear, which is typical for electric drivetrains. The battery is an 84 kWh lithium-ion unit that supports an estimated 530-kilometer range under full charge.
The suspension system uses a MacPherson strut setup at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. The brakes are 17-inch discs on both the front and rear wheels. The vehicle also comes with a Tire Mobility Kit instead of a traditional spare tire. These systems are meant to provide stability and consistent driving behavior, especially with the added weight of the battery.
