The JAECOO J5 SHS joins the brand’s growing crossover lineup as part of its hybrid offerings. Positioned as a hybrid crossover, it blends modern electrification with reliable internal combustion, making it an appealing option for buyers looking to transition into greener mobility without going fully electric. Launch
The JAECOO J5 was introduced to the Philippine market on March 23, 2026, marking the brand’s continued push into the local automotive scene. Its arrival expands JAECOO’s hybrid lineup, currently only occupied by the J7 SHS.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The heart of the J5 is a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). This setup produces 221 hp and 295 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels
Performance is more than adequate for daily driving, with a zero to 100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h. The hybrid system helps the J5 achieve impressive fuel economy and a driving range of up to 980 km, making it ideal for both daily commutes and longer trips with fewer fuel stops.
Technology Features
The JAECOO J5 gets an impressive tech array as well, with a touchscreen infotainment system that ranges from nine inches to a larger 13.2-inch display depending on the variant. It comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity, along with voice recognition for added convenience.
Other useful features include keyless entry, push-button start, and, on select variants, a power liftgate. These touches make everyday driving just that bit easier, especially in busy urban settings.
Exterior
The J5 wears a clean, modern design that balances style and function. Its proportions are just right for urban use, measuring 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase that gives it a planted stance.
It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with practical touches like roof rails. Higher-spec variants add a panoramic glass roof, giving the SUV a more premium and airy feel. With 176 mm of ground clearance and a 45 cm wading depth, the J5 is also ready to deal with rough roads and occasional flooding.
Interior
Inside, the J5 offers a cabin that leans toward comfort and practicality. The top-spec variant gets features like leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control, all contributing to a more refined driving experience.
There’s seating for five passengers, along with a generous 480-liter trunk that expands up to 1,214 liters with the rear seats folded. Whether it’s groceries, luggage, or weekend gear, the J5 has the space to handle it.

The J5 comes equipped with a solid set of safety features, though availability varies by variant. Standard equipment includes ABS with electronic brake force distribution, stability control, and multiple airbags.
