Here in the Philippines, the large sedan segment is one that entices only a fair amount of buyers for its rather mid-to-up-scale market, but Kia PH braved the odds and entered its Optima large Sedan in to the high playing field.
Going up against such names as the Toyota Camry and the Hyundai Sonata makes it a three-way tie in all aspects. Rounded exterior looks are simple yet sporty, not surprising for the Korean automaker’s lively and up-beat nature, and with its design highlight – the Tiger Grille (Which also is present in most of Kia PH’s fleet nowadays), the Optima is of optimum levels indeed.
Interior-wise, and a hint of up-classiness is felt with a premium leather upholstered seats, ample head and leg room, many stowage spaces, front and rear sunroofs, and s host of digital entertainment and connectivity options for a more enjoyable ride.
Under the hood is a Theta-II 2.4L inline 4-cylinder MPI petrol engine, mated to a 6-speed AT, giving off close to 200 horses on the front wheels. A set of four large disc brakes provide great stopping power, and safety is paramount with Kia’s standard safety specs all fitted in and on alert mode anytime.
