Seven seats, nearly 300 hp, plug-in capability, and a price tag under P1.4 million. That’s what the G50 Plus PHEV offers and more. MG’s first plug-in-hybrid offers families a versatile people mover that has more than adequate power for long trips while remaining frugal at the pumps.
It slots above the G50 Plus in MG's lineup, bringing a completely different powertrain, a redesigned dashboard, and a feature set that genuinely competes with vehicles sitting at a much higher price point. At P1,398,888, it's positioned as one of the most accessible plug-in hybrid MPVs in the country right now.
MG Motor Philippines officially unveiled the G50 PHEV at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), where the brand rolled out a campaign it called "The Next Wave of MG," signaling a bigger push into smarter, more electrified mobility. It was one of two headline reveals at MG's MIAS booth, alongside the updated MG5 Prestige. At launch, the MG G50 PHEV was priced at P1,398,888.
The G50 PHEV is built on the same unibody platform as the G50 Plus, adapted to carry the PHEV system. Up front is a MacPherson strut setup, while the rear uses a torsion-beam arrangement, and all four corners get disc brakes.
The powertrain, however, is anything but conventional at this price. A 1.5-liter engine works alongside a 218-hp permanent magnet synchronous electric motor through a new Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The combustion side contributes 95 hp on its own, but combined, the system pushes out a peak of 294 hp and 280 Nm of torque.
The 18.65kWh LFP battery gives the G50 PHEV up to 95 km of pure electric range, and with a full 60-liter tank on top of that, MG claims a combined range of up to 1,415 km. That kind of range makes weekend out-of-town trips a lot less stressful.
Charging is done through a Type 2 AC connector, accepting up to 6.6kW, with a full charge taking approximately 2.8 hours. There's also Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support, so you can plug in external appliances directly from the battery. Useful on camping trips, and even more useful when the brownouts hit.

The 12.3-inch infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which keeps day-to-day usability smooth and familiar for most Filipino buyers. The screen is large enough to be practical, and the wireless connectivity means one less cable cluttering the console.
A 360-degree camera is included, which is genuinely welcome on a vehicle this size. Maneuvering a seven-seater MPV through tight Philippine parking lots is already a test of patience, and having full surround visibility takes a lot of that stress away.
The V2L function deserves a specific mention here. Being able to power appliances directly from the car's battery is a practical, real-world advantage that owners will appreciate beyond just the novelty of it. A wireless charging pad for smartphones is also on board for everyday convenience.
The G50 PHEV doesn't just bolt a charging port onto the standard model and call it a day. It carries its own distinct look that sets it apart from the ICE variants in the G50 family.
The plug-in hybrid version gets a unique set of LED daytime running lights, a semi-closed grille, automatic LED headlights, and faux metal accents on the front bumper. It also wears a different set of alloy wheels compared to the conventional G50.
Additional exterior features include a panoramic sunroof and a power tailgate, two items that have moved from nice-to-have to expected in this segment. The overall silhouette stays true to the upright, people mover proportions that define the G50, but the PHEV's cleaner front end and closed-off grille give it a more contemporary, electrified feel. It's a smart differentiation strategy, letting buyers know at a glance that this isn't just another combustion MPV.
Color options at launch are kept to three: Pearl White, Andes Gray, and Pearl Black.
The inside of the G50 PHEV has been freshened up meaningfully to differentiate it from the G50 Plus. The centerpiece is a redesigned dashboard with dual 12.3-inch displays covering both the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. It's a modern, clean setup that makes the cabin feel genuinely current.
Seating goes three rows deep. The second row gets captain seats for that premium MPV feel, while the third row fits three passengers, keeping the full seven-seat count intact without compromising the layout. Legroom and headroom across all three rows benefit from the G50's upright body, which has always been one of the MPV's stronger points.
Leather upholstery, USB charging ports, a wireless charging pad, and the panoramic sunroof round out the comfort package.
Safety equipment on the G50 PHEV includes six airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
