Launch
The MG RX9 PHEV was officially launched in the Philippines on June 4, 2026, during the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). It was unveiled alongside the MG HS PHEV and the all-new MG4 Urban EV as part of MG's expanding electrified vehicle portfolio. The RX9 also marked the brand's entry into the full-size three-row crossover segment in the local market.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The RX9 PHEV is built on a unibody platform designed to accommodate electrified powertrains and large family-oriented vehicles. Measuring 4,983 mm long, 1,967 mm wide, and 1,786 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm, it is one of the largest crossovers in its class.
Under the hood is a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a 24.7-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The combined system produces 294 hp and drives the front wheels through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The setup allows the RX9 to operate as a pure electric vehicle for short trips while seamlessly transitioning to hybrid operation for longer journeys.
MG claims an electric-only driving range of up to 115 km under the NEDC cycle, while total driving range exceeds 1,100 km when combining battery and fuel power. The RX9 also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the battery to power external appliances and devices when needed.

Interior
Inside, the RX9 PHEV focuses on passenger comfort and luxury. The three-row cabin offers generous space for seven occupants, while the long wheelbase translates to excellent legroom, particularly for second-row passengers. Cargo flexibility is another strength, with luggage capacity expanding to as much as 2,093 liters when the rear seats are folded.
Premium materials are used throughout the cabin, including leather upholstery and soft-touch surfaces. The front seats are power-adjustable and feature ventilation, massage functions, and driver memory settings, creating a more relaxing experience during long journeys.
