The new 2017 Mitsubishi ASX, which stands for Active Sport Crossover, is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’s answer to the demand of a crossover SUV that’s more compact and agile. It has a sculpted fender flares and deep lines around the body tell you this is another kind of beast.
Inside is a 5-passenger cabin covered in high-quality fabric or genuine leather for the GSR variant. At the helm is a 6.5-inch touch screen display that can display DVD video or navigation, while at the back of the steering wheel are white-lit gauges for high visibility even in the dark. Other features include automatic climate control, cruise control and engine start/stop button.
In the Philippines, the new ASX is powered by a 2.0L MIVEC engine that measures the optimal valve timing at rev changes for maximum power. It’s attached to a INVECS-III CVT 6-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic Mode, that is able to do the gear changes manually via paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Safety measures include rear parking sensors, immobilizer with alarm, ABS with brake assist, brake override, and airbags.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) recently unveiled the latest version of the Outlander Sport for 2016. Known locally as the ASX, this updated model showcases Mitsubishi’s new “Dynamic Shield” front fascia seen in the latest Montero Sport. But there’s more to it than just a pretty face.
