The Subaru Crosstrek is a compact crossover SUV that sits as one of Subaru's popular offerings in the market. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek was launched in the Philippines on July 21, 2023. The car was unveiled at the newly-inaugurated Subaru Alabang, hosted by Gateway Motors in Westgate. The Crosstrek, previously known as the XV in its earlier versions, has undergone substantial enhancements. The crossover now flaunts a sleeker and more dynamic appearance, while also benefiting from an upgraded Subaru Global Platform. These improvements ensure a remarkably smooth and comfortable driving experience.
Additionally, the Crosstrek is equipped with cutting-edge safety features, with the standout being Subaru's latest EyeSight 4.0 advanced driver assist system, also found in the new Forester model. Subaru introduced the Crosstrek with a launch price of P1,998,000 for the 2.0i-L and P2,018,000 for the 2.0i-S.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The Subaru Crosstrek comes with only one powertrain option. Powering both the 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S is a 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, 154 hp at 6000 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. This engine is mated to a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with an eight-speed manual mode and paddle shifters, which provides smooth and efficient power delivery. Additionally, Subaru's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system is standard on the Crosstrek, enhancing its traction and stability in various driving conditions.
The Crosstrek is built on Subaru's Global Platform, a versatile architecture that underpins several other models in the lineup. This platform is designed to improve rigidity, safety, and driving dynamics. The 2.0i-S variant on the other hand comes with a set of exclusive features, including a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with a memory function for personalized comfort. The rear center armrest is thoughtfully equipped with integrated cupholders for convenience in addition to a wireless charging pad.
Not only are there USB-A and USB-C charging ports in the front, but additional ones are also provided for the rear passengers, ensuring everyone can charge their devices easily. Capping off the tech features is a power-sliding sunroof and steering-responsive headlights for extra nighttime visibility.
Exterior
The Crosstrek's exterior design exhibits a blend of modernity and ruggedness. It features a sleek and aerodynamic profile, while its raised ground clearance and bold wheel arches hint at its off-road capability. The front fascia has Subaru's signature hexagonal grille flanked by stylish headlights with LED accents. Roof rails come standard, adding practicality for carrying outdoor gear like bicycles, kayaks, or even just extra space for luggage.
The Crosstrek strikes a balance between evolving from its past generation and keeping in touch with its rugged identity. The whole body still has the silhouette of the XV but Subaru has added some extra edges to give the Crosstrek a level of individuality.

In terms of rear luggage space, the Crosstrek has 291 liters of trunk space with all seats up, once folded down however, the Crosstrek can accommodate 1,278 liters of space with the 2.0i-L and 1,261 liters with the 2.0i-S.
