The Toyota Ativ represents the next generation of the beloved Vios nameplate, now featuring an updated platform, a host of new safety technologies, and an available HEV powertrain option. It is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture-B (DNGA-B) platform, which it shares with the latest-generation Avanza and Veloz.
The Ativ is offered with three powertrain options. The first is a 1.3-liter gasoline engine that produces 97 hp and 122 Nm of torque, available with either a five-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The second is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine delivering 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque. Finally, the hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, all paired with a CVT. The electric motor alone generates 79 hp, while the combined output with the gasoline engine reaches 109 hp.
Standard safety features in the Ativ include multiple airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and ISOFIX child restraint systems.
Toyota Motor Philippines launched the Ativ on October 13, 2025. At launch, the Toyota Ativ is offered in four variants. The range starts with the 1.3 E MT, priced at P916,000. Above it sits the 1.3 E CVT at P980,000, offering the same equipment with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. The 1.5 G CVT, priced at P1,069,000, adds more power and a higher level of comfort and safety features. Topping the range is the 1.5 HEV CVT at ₱1,198,000, which introduces hybrid technology and the most advanced driver-assistance systems in the lineup.
Color options include Platinum White Pearl, Gray Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Scarlet SE, and Metal Stream Metallic.
Underpinning the Ativ is the fourth-generation AC100 architecture derived from Daihatsu’s DNGA family, which gives the car a more rigid structure and improved packaging compared with its predecessor. Dimensions-wise, the Ativ has an overall length of 4,420 mm, a width of 1,730 mm, a height of 1,475 mm, and a 2,550 mm wheelbase that helps deliver competitive rear-seat space for the class.
Engine options include a naturally aspirated 1.3-litre four-cylinder (1NR-series) producing roughly 97 hp and 122 Nm, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder (2NR-series) producing 105 hp and 140 Nm; the 1.3 is offered with either a five-speed manual or a CVT, while the 1.5 is paired with a CVT. The Ativ’s HEV grade uses a 1.5-litre 2NR-VEX combustion engine combined with an electric motor and an E-CVT; the engine alone puts out 90 hp and 121 Nm of torque, while the 80 hp electric motor allows it to reach a combined output of 109 hp.
Stopping power comes from disc brakes up front and drum brakes at the rear for the 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter variants, while the HEV gets a full set of disc brakes all around.
Technology in the Toyota Ativ is centered around connectivity and driver convenience. Standard across all variants is a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. The range-topping HEV variant steps up to a slightly larger 10.1-inch head unit that adds wireless smartphone mirroring for added ease. A reversing camera is fitted to every Ativ, while the upper G and HEV trims enhance parking confidence with a 360-degree panoramic view monitor that provides a clear view of the car’s surroundings.
The Ativ also introduces Toyota Safety Sense to the segment, bringing advanced driver-assistance technologies previously reserved for higher models. The suite includes a Pre-Collision System with autonomous emergency braking, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control, all designed to improve safety and reduce driver fatigue on longer drives.
The Ativ’s exterior features modern sedan proportions with a low, tapered roofline and a relatively long rear overhang that stretches the boot while maintaining compact overall dimensions. At the sides, the Ativ can be had with 16-inch alloy wheels for the 1.3-liter E and the 1.5-liter HEV, while the 1.5-liter G comes with 17-inch alloys, which both sharpen the stance and help with mid-speed composure. The front fascia sports a more aggressive but tidy, aerodynamic silhouette, giving the Ativ a more elegant demeanor.
Inside, the Ativ features a straightforward, user-focused cabin layout designed with ergonomics and passenger comfort in mind. The 1.3 E and 1.5 G variants are equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the HEV variant upgrades to a larger 10.1-inch display offering wireless smartphone connectivity. The HEV also adds convenience features such as a wireless charging pad and a panoramic view monitor, enhancing everyday usability and ease of parking. Seat upholstery varies by grade—the 1.3 E and 1.5 G feature fabric seats, while the HEV receives leather upholstery for a more premium feel. All variants come with a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, allowing drivers to find a comfortable and ergonomic driving position.
The Toyota Ativ continues the brand’s strong reputation for safety by offering a comprehensive range of features across all variants. Even the 1.3 E grade comes well-equipped with dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution (ABS with EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), and Active Traction Control (A-TRC). A Toyota Vehicle Security System with an alarm and immobilizer is also standard for peace of mind.
Going up the ladder, the feature list expands. The 1.5 G and 1.5 HEV grades upgrade to a six-airbag configuration for added occupant protection. Both trims also feature Clearance and Back Sonar sensors and a Panoramic View Monitor that provides a 360-degree perspective to assist in tight parking situations, replacing the simpler rear camera found in the 1.3 E.
Exclusive to the HEV variant is the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems designed to help prevent accidents and reduce driver fatigue. TSS includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with autonomous emergency braking, Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
