Born out of the success of the Golf, Volkswagen added the conventional trunk to the Golf body thus the Jetta was born. In the Philippines, it’s competitively priced against mid-level offerings from American and Asian brands, giving Filipinos a taste of German engineering without the European price tag.
The Jetta will greet you with its clean-cut lines and smooth slopes around the body. A touch of luxury as leather covers the hand brake, gear shift knob and the steering wheel – which has controls for the multi-function display and radio. Matte chrome pieces accents the dashboard and door trims. It comes standard with 6 airbags and a Park Distance Control.
A 2.0L 108 hp engine with 280 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed manual tranny powers the TDI model while the TSI has a 1.4L 160 hp engine capable of producing 240 Nm of torque mated to an automatic transmission. The Comfortline variant has a 2.0L 140 hp engine with 320 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission.
