The Tokyo Mobility Show is coming up, and the newest cars and concepts from all of the major Japanese brands and beyond will be shown. Subaru’s going to be there, and it will debut a special edition Forester and its Sport Mobility Concept. Apart from the two, other stuff like the Solterra, Crosstrek, and Layback will be all featured.
Back to the Sport Mobility Concept. Serving as the highlight at this year’s Subaru booth, the new concept will be a two-door coupe complete with futuristic concept styling. The wheel arches appear to be squared-off, and it will also feature cameras instead of side mirrors. Light-up badging is also a part of the concept and we also get other bits of illumination, especially with the headlights and the DRLs.
Based on the photos, we don’t have the full look of the car just yet and we will definitely need to wait for the show in order to get the full look, but there is one more lighting element that is on the teaser image that we can’t help but bring up. Subaru’s EyeSight is one of the better-sorted systems out there as far as semi-autonomous driving assists go. Its sensors are prominently lit up on the concept, so we could expect Subaru to announce upgrades to the EyeSight suite with this concept’s unveiling.
Apart from that, the technical specifications of the concept is still under wraps, but we’re not too concerned about it for now. However, Subaru has stated that the concept will “[deliver the] pleasure of going anywhere, anytime, and driving at will in everyday to extraordinary environments.” Breaking it down, it seems like All-Wheel-Drive will be a part of the spec list and we’re expecting it to also be electric. Putting two and two together means that we could expect a dual-motor setup from this vehicle.
Subaru will be holding a press conference on the first day of the Japan Mobility Show, on October 25, 2023, and the rest of the public will be able to access the show starting on October 27, 2023, and ending on November 5, 2023.
