Is Cavite the most car hungry province in the Philippines?

Is Cavite the most car hungry province in the Philippines?

As we move further into the second half of 2016, the recent sales announcements of brands like Ford and Isuzu suggest that the Philippine automotive industry is now well and truly on track to meet it’s estimated growth figures.

As a facilitator of customer inquiries, AutoDeal has seen sharp increases in the numbers of potential buyers searching for and requesting pricing quotations on brand-new vehicles through much of the second quarter 2016. Much of this data is reflected in AutoDeal’s Q2 2016 Data Insights.

One of the most interesting take homes from this report is that from all locations in the Philippines, the province of Cavite showed the highest volume of inquiries, accounting for 8.33% of all customer to dealer engagements made on AutoDeal.

In addition to bumping Quezon City from the top spot, Cavite also outnumber other major Metro Manila cities like Makati, Pasig, Taguig, and Las Pinas. Other Calabarzon provinces also made the top-20 list with Laguna ranking in 4th, Rizal in 5th, and Batangas in 13th.

So what were Caviteño car-buyers looking for exactly?

34% of them were looking for subcompact vehicles with models like the Toyota Wigo and Mitsubishi Mirage ranking among the highest in terms of total inquiry volumes. Based on the price-line and features of these vehicles, it would be fair to make an assumption that many of these buyers were very much looking to purchase their very first car.

16% of inquiries were then made on compact vehicles and 10% on Mid-Size SUV’s, with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest and Isuzu mu-X making up the most interest. AUV’s and Vans made up 8% each, suggesting a good volume of business buyers while sub-compact crossovers like the Nissan and Juke and Ford Everest made up 7%.

MPV’s like the Honda Mobilio and Suzuki Ertiga made up 7% while compact Compact Crossovers and Pick-Ups accounted for 4% each.

So what does this all mean? Good news for Cavite based car-dealers? A gold-rush of Car Sales in South Metro? Possibly, but let’s also remember that although the inquiries were made in Cavite, many of the successful purchases actually occurred in Metro Manila.

Did you know 37% of car buyers who inquire online will travel on average, up to 69 kms to get the best deal? Find out more about this in our article on the slow decline of dealer capture areas.
