The Subaru WRX STI proves that legends never die, they just pass on the greatness. That’s what its predecessor Impreza WRX STI did. It may no longer carry the old impressive nameplate, but what it lost, it gained back in refinement and improved performance.
Launched in the Philippines in-tandem with the WRX last April 2014 in the 10th Manila International Auto Show, it became one of the event’s most anticipated and most photographed display, pulling in crowd traffic from day-1 to end.
Exterior is obviously an Impreza inspiration, starting off with its massive hood scoop, hinting a monster within. Aggressive front facia compliments its wide 4-door sedan body, accented by fender flairs, side skirts, and for that finishing touch – an STI rear wing. Its interior has the same spec as the WRX, but with hints of STI-rage here and there.
Peering through the hood scoop is a wild 300hp 2.5L Turbo-Intercooled High-Boost 4-Cylinder Boxer Engine, tamed by a 6-Speed MT, delivering WRC-like thrills via its Symmetrical AWD System and SI-Drive Technology. Sporting a competition-ready suspension and braking systems allows it to be as gracefully menacing on tarmac, as it is on mud, sand, gravel, and more.
