The MG Cyberster marks the return of MG to the sports car segment, specifically targeting the growing electric vehicle market. The car was developed as part of the brand’s next step into electric mobility while recalling MG's background in producing compact two-door sports cars. The official launch was made for international markets, with the Cyberster being introduced as a production-ready EV sports car.
Following its development and design in London at MG’s Advanced Design Studio, the car was officially announced as part of the brand’s global expansion of EV offerings. The release of the Cyberster positions MG to compete in the two-door EV performance segment, with its first production model carrying the features of the concept version shown earlier in global motor shows.
The MG Cyberster is built on an electric vehicle platform with a rear-wheel-drive configuration. It uses a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 231 kW of power and 475 Nm of torque. This setup allows the Cyberster to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.2 seconds. The electric motor draws power from a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which supports long-range driving up to 520 km under ideal conditions.
The chassis features front and rear independent suspension systems. At the front, the car is equipped with MacPherson struts, while the rear uses a multi-link suspension. This setup is designed to maintain road contact and stability at higher speeds. The vehicle's braking system includes ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels. The MG Cyberster also uses an electric parking brake and features regenerative braking to enhance energy efficiency during deceleration.
The MG Cyberster comes equipped with a smart cockpit setup consisting of a 7-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen, and a 7-inch passenger screen. The system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes satellite navigation, a six-speaker audio system, and DAB radio. Voice control is also available for selected functions, and the system is updated via over-the-air software updates.
The Cyberster is also equipped with MG Pilot, the brand’s driver assistance suite. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and intelligent speed limit assist. Additional features such as traffic jam assist, blind spot detection, and rear cross traffic alert are included. The system also has a 360-degree camera setup with front and rear sensors for better parking support.
The MG Cyberster’s body design consists of a two-door roadster frame with electrically operated scissor doors. The roof is a soft-top, fully automatic folding mechanism that retracts in approximately 10 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. The vehicle has LED headlights and taillights with a unique lighting signature. The door handles are flush-mounted and automatically extend when needed.
The vehicle rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels fitted with 245/40 R20 tires at the front and 275/35 R20 at the rear. The overall stance is low and wide, with a ground clearance of 133 mm. The exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable, heated, and fold automatically. A rear spoiler is integrated into the body design to support high-speed stability.
Inside, the MG Cyberster has a 2-seat layout with power-adjustable sports seats trimmed in synthetic leather. Both seats are heated and come with memory functions for the driver. The flat-bottom steering wheel is covered in leather, equipped with multi-function buttons, and offers tilt and telescopic adjustment. The center console houses a rotary gear selector and driving mode buttons.
Ambient lighting is installed inside the cabin, and dual-zone automatic climate control is standard. Keyless entry with push-button start is included. There is also a wireless charging pad for mobile devices. The rear of the cabin includes a storage compartment and cup holders. The boot can hold up to 249 liters, and the vehicle includes a powered tailgate release.
The MG Cyberster includes multiple safety systems, both passive and active. The vehicle is equipped with dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags. Electronic stability control, ABS, and electronic brakeforce distribution are included as standard. The system also comes with hill start assist, traction control, and an automatic emergency braking feature.
In addition to the standard braking and stability systems, the Cyberster includes advanced driver assistance features. This includes blind spot detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and door opening warning.
