The MG HS Hybrid+ is a hybrid SUV powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a traction motor with a combined output of 221 hp. This hybrid setup uses a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (EDU Gen3) and a front-wheel drive system. The vehicle reaches a top speed of 190 km/h.

Launch
This updated MG HS Hybrid+ variant includes improved performance figures over previous models. The 2-speed EDU Gen3 transmission is designed to shift smoothly between gasoline and electric modes while also maintaining fuel efficiency. MG has updated the power electronics to deliver seamless transitions between combustion and electric drive while improving torque delivery during acceleration.
The vehicle’s hybrid system supports better stop-and-go performance in city driving. The inclusion of features like electronic gear shifting, regenerative braking, and improved hybrid logic allows the vehicle to meet both fuel efficiency and performance expectations. With 221 hp of combined power and 340 Nm of torque, the new MG HS Hybrid+ strikes a balance between family practicality and electrified power.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Under the hood, the 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine produces 143 hp at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The electric motor contributes 196 hp and 340 Nm of torque, allowing strong acceleration at lower RPMs. The drivetrain is configured as front-wheel drive (FWD) and uses a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. This transmission improves efficiency and acceleration by pairing different gear ratios with electric motor performance.
Suspension consists of MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link setup at the rear. The front braking system features ventilated discs, while the rear uses solid discs. Auto brake hold and an electronic parking brake are both standard. Steering is handled via electric power steering with tilt and telescopic adjustments, an electronic steering column lock, and a multifunctional steering wheel.
Technology Features
Inside the cabin, the MG HS Hybrid+ includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The vehicle comes with 8 speakers and 4 USB ports (2 in front, 2 in rear), plus a wireless charger and a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system with rear vents and air purifier.
The vehicle features a smart entry and keyless start system, auto up/down windows with jam protection for both driver and passengers, and a hands-free power tailgate with kick sensor. Additional functions include an electronic gear shifter, cargo cover, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, rear seat armrest with cupholders, front center armrest with cupholder, and a cargo area glovebox with boot illumination.
Exterior
The MG HS Hybrid+ comes equipped with 19-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 225/55 R19 Bridgestone Alenza tires. The headlights use digital matrix LED lighting with automatic high and low beam switching via Intelligent Headlight Control (IHC), along with auto on/off and follow-me-home functions. Daytime running lights, LED fog lamps, an LED tail light bar, and high-mount stop lamp are all included.
Other exterior features include a panoramic sunroof, roof rails with 75 kg load capacity, rain-sensing wipers, rear privacy glass, and a glass-printed antenna. The side mirrors are power-adjustable, power-folding, auto-retracting, heated, and have a reverse auto tilt feature with built-in turn signals.
Interior
The cabin is equipped with leather seats for five passengers, with both driver and passenger seats offering electric adjustability. The driver’s seat includes a 6-way power adjuster and 4-way lumbar support, while the passenger seat has a 4-way power adjuster. Both seats offer three levels of heating and have memory settings. The rear seat reclines, folds 60/40, and includes a center armrest with cupholders.
Additional amenities include a dual-zone climate system, front and rear reading lights, boot lighting, a mirror and illuminated sun visor for both front passengers, and an electronic glovebox. The center console includes storage and USB ports. The audio setup includes 8 speakers powered by the main infotainment unit.
Safety
The MG HS Hybrid+ includes advanced driver assistance systems through MG Pilot. Features include adaptive cruise control, intelligent cruise assist, forward collision warning, rear collision warning, rear cross traffic alert and braking, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, emergency lane keeping, and front cross-traffic alert.
Standard safety features include airbags for the driver, front passenger, sides, and curtains. ISOFIX child seat anchors and a tire pressure monitoring system are installed. The braking system includes ABS, EBD, traction control, cornering brake control, and vehicle dynamics control with active rollover protection. Other safety features include 8 parking sensors (4 front, 4 rear), a 360-degree panoramic camera, anti-theft alarm, hood alarm, and speed-sensing door locks.
