The MG M9 is the newest all-electric MPV under the MG Philippines lineup, equipped with a large 90 kWh battery and two trim levels: Luxury and Premium. While both variants share the same technical setup, they’re packed with high-range capabilities and advanced safety features designed for long-distance comfort. With a clean look, long wheelbase, and a refined ride, the MG M9 positions itself as a practical and futuristic electric option for family and executive transport alike. Both variants are powered by an electric motor delivering up to 241 hp and 350 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 180 km/h. The estimated WLTP range is 430 km combined, and up to 565 km for city driving. Charging is efficient too, with DC fast charging reaching 80% in just 0.83 hours, while AC charging via an 11 kW wallbox takes around 9.5 hours from 5% to 80%.
Launch
The MG M9 is a new entry in MG Philippines’ growing portfolio of electric vehicles. The model is expected to arrive with two variants, Luxury and Premium, both offering the same performance figures but differing in convenience and interior appointments.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Underneath, the MG M9 is powered by a fully electric drivetrain with a single-speed automatic transmission, matched with a large-capacity 90 kWh battery. The electric motor outputs 180 kW, which converts to roughly 241 hp, and delivers 350 Nm of torque to the wheels. The MG M9 supports both DC and AC charging through a CCS2 combo port. The battery system features both heating and cooling mechanisms to maintain optimal performance and battery health in varying climates. The vehicle's top speed is rated at 180 km/h, while its maximum payload is set at 525 kg. Curb weight comes in at 2,535 kg, and the gross vehicle weight reaches 3,135 kg. A towing capacity of up to 1,000 kg adds to its utility credentials.
Technology Features
Both variants come equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and digital radio reception (DAB) are standard. The Premium variant is also fitted with a 12-speaker system for an upgraded audio experience.
Keyless entry, push-button start, and PEPS system are included across the board. Additional features like dual-zone climate control with automatic rear air conditioning, rear vent, and 64-color ambient lighting (exclusive to Premium) make the cabin more enjoyable for passengers on long trips.
Exterior
On the outside, the MG M9 features LED headlights and taillights, daytime running lights, automatic headlight control, high-mounted stop light, and full rear wiper setup. Both variants are equipped with electrically operated, power-folding, heated side mirrors with memory functions. The Premium variant also includes laminated privacy glass from A- to B-pillar and a panoramic sunroof.
The vehicle rides on 19-inch multi-strip-style luxury spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55 R19 Continental tires. Both variants also come with a powered tailgate and power sliding doors on each side, enhancing practicality for families and ride-share uses.
Interior
The MG M9 adopts a 7-seater 2-2-3 configuration. Both variants come with leatherette-wrapped multifunction steering wheels, power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Premium trim adds heated and ventilated front seats with massage and memory functions, Nappa leather seats, heated steering wheel, and second-row powered sliding seats with massage and ventilation.
Cargo flexibility is made better through a 60:40 split-folding third-row. The Premium trim also offers a streaming media rearview mirror and atmospheric ambient lighting for a more upscale feel. A variety of trims, including black decorative panels and chamois interior coating (exclusive to Premium), round out the luxury interior feel.
Safety
MG has equipped the M9 with a safety suite across both variants. It includes driver and front passenger airbags, side and curtain airbags, and even a far side airbag. Active safety features cover Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA).
Also included are Blind Spot Assist, Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Rear Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Door Open Warning (DOW), and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHC). Visibility and parking are handled through a 360-degree view imaging system. All seats have three-point belts with reminders, and ISOFIX child seat anchors are assumed based on segment standards.
